Charlotte’s largest street festival will return to its traditional

Memorial Day weekend dates in 2021

CHARLOTTE, NC — Organizers for Circle K Speed Street announced today that the Uptown street festival celebrating Charlotte Motor Speedway race week will be postponed until May 27-29, 2021, due to continued restrictions on public gatherings surrounding the ongoing pandemic.

This year’s event was originally postponed from May until October 8-10. Next year’s event will coincide with the 2021 Memorial Day weekend running of the 62nd Coca-Cola 600.

The decision to postpone Circle K Speed Street a second time comes after ongoing discussions with health authorities, public officials, partners and event organizers.

“Circle K cares deeply about public safety and the health and well-being of our Charlotte community, and out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to start looking ahead to hosting Circle K Speed Street in May of 2021,” says Robin Donoho, director of marketing for Circle K’s Southeast Division.

All additional 600 Festival events including Movies on the Campus (Kannapolis, N.C.), Zucchini 600 (Kannapolis, N.C.), Haulers on Union Parade & Fan Fest presented by Freightliner (Concord, N.C.), and the Little 600 (Mooresville, N.C.) will also be postponed until May, 2021. The 2021 Circle K Speed Street festival is slated to take place in Charlotte’s Romare Bearden Park and will be free to attend. Musical talent will be announced in early 2021.

“We are disappointed to postpone these special events, but we’re looking forward to planning free, community-focused and family-friendly events to celebrate the Charlotte region and the NASCAR industry as we emerge from this global health crisis,” said Jacqueline Gafrarar, managing director of the 600 Festival. “We look forward to being together again soon, and, when we do, Circle K Speed Street will be ready to rock!”
