“Drive into Summer” this year with Uptown Charlotte’s street festival and concerts throughout Memorial Day weekend, May 23 – 25

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 8, 2019) —Charlotte’s kick-off to summer tradition continues. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Circle K Speed Street, presented by Coca-Cola, the annual street festival and concert series commemorating the May races at Charlotte Motor Speedway which celebrate their 60th Anniversary this year.

To celebrate a quarter-century of great music and fun, and to “drive into summer”, event organizers have lined up all-star talent Corey Smith, Brothers Osborne and STYX to perform throughout Memorial Day weekend in Uptown Charlotte.

The Thursday, May 23, show is free; tickets are still required and are available for pickup at Circle K stores throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia starting March 15. Tickets for Friday and Saturday, May 24 – 25, are $20 (which includes all applicable fees); those tickets will go on sale online starting March 15. In addition, a special 3-day concert pass will be available at North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia Circle K stores for $30. Thursday, May 23:

Circle K Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola will kick off the weekend with a free concert featuring country singer-songwriter Corey Smith in Romare Bearden Park. Celebrated as the “fan-made man,” Smith has sold over 1 million concert tickets, 1.5 million digital singles and over 220,000 albums.

While the concert is free, a ticket will be required for entry. Tickets will be available at Circle K stores throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. (No purchase necessary.)

Friday, May 24:

On Friday night, the event goes country, with a performance from Brothers Osborne on the Coca-Cola stage in Romare Bearden Park. The singer/songwriter siblings recently earned back-
to-back ACM Vocal Duo of the Year awards, along with ACM Music Video of the Year for their top 10, Grammy-nominated single, “It Ain’t My Fault.” Brothers Osborne currently reigns as two-time CMA Vocal Duo of the Year, and their debut album, “Pawn Shop,” was certified Gold by the RIAA.

Tickets for Brothers Osborne are $20 (inclusive of all taxes and fees) and will be available for purchase online starting March 15.

Saturday, May 25:

Get ready, classic rock fans, because Circle K Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola is closing out its 25th year with a performance from the legendary group, STYX.

For over four decades, Styx has rocked fans with barn-burning chart hits, joyous singalongs and hard-driving deep cuts — from “The Grand Illusion” and “Blue Collar Man” to “Come Sail Away” and “Renegade.”

STYX recently reissued its sonically sweet 16th studio album and its most ambitious, most challenging and most rewarding album to date, THE MISSION, on its label, Alpha Dog 2T/UMe. The highly anticipated double disc includes a CD of the original album, as well as a Blu-ray of THE MISSION mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound.

Tickets are $20 (inclusive of all taxes and fees) and will be available for purchase online starting March 15.

The concerts are just part of a fun-filled weekend in Uptown Charlotte. Circle K Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola, will take over a six-block stretch of Tryon Street from noon to 8 p.m., May 23 – 25, featuring food, drinks, kid-friendly activities, experiential activations, celebrity and driver appearances, NASCAR show cars and live music from local and regional bands. These activities are free to the public.

“Drive into summer” is something fans can participate in throughout the month of May with free family-friendly events including Movies on the Campus in conjunction with Jiggy with the Piggy in Kannapolis on May 3; the Zucchini 600 in Kannapolis May 4; the Haulers on Union Parade and Fan Fest, presented by Freightliner, in Concord May 16; and the Little 600 at GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville May 21.
